Bulk actions and table controls

Optimize your workflow with bulk actions and table controls

Updated over a month ago

This article will help you understand how you will be able to move multiple items in the worklist to a new status at one time.

Viewing a table as claims or line items

All claims, Denials, and Underpayments worklists all offer the ability to view rows in the table as claims or lines. This option isn't available in the Non-response worklist, as rows in that table are meant to show full claims that have been billed but haven't received a remit response from the payer.

  • Click the View by dropdown in the upper right corner of the table and then select claims or line items depending on your needs

  • When viewing by claims, you'll see each row aggregates values based on what occurred on the full claim

  • When viewing by line items, you'll see how those aggregated values break down by specific lines

  • When you export the table, it will export rows as claims or as line items depending on what you have selected

Some columns will have different data depending on whether view by claim or view by line item is selected.

  • Dollar amounts will display sums in the rows-as-claims view and as line item amounts in the rows-as-line items view. f you're looking at a column that displays the Allowed amount, you'll see the total allowed amount for the claim when viewing by claims, and you'll see the allowed amount for each line item when viewing by line items.

  • Code related columns will show all unique codes that occurred on a claim as comma separated values when you're viewing rows as claims. When you're viewing the table by line items, you'll only see the codes that occurred on those lines.

  • The Units column will show the total number of units on the claim in the rows-as-claims view and as the units for each specific line in the rows-as-line items view.

Applying bulk actions

We use the term bulk action to describe the ability to check multiple lines or claims in a table and perform the same action on all of them. From the table, select the rows you would like to take an action on, or use the checkbox at the top of the table to select all of the items on the worklist that match the filter criteria you've applied.

To select multiple consecutive rows on the page without having to click each one, check the box next to the top row you'd like to select, hold Shift on your keyboard, then check the box next to the bottom row.

Below are the bulk actions offered on each worklist.

Add a comment

  • Add the same comment to multiple claims at once

  • If you're viewing the worklist as line items, then adding a bulk comment will add that comment to the claims those lines belong to

  • Available on any claims-based worklist

Export CSV

  • Export selected rows

  • Rows in the exported CSV will mirror how you're viewing the worklist, be it as claims or as line items

Set workflow status

  • Change the workflow status for selected claims

  • If you're viewing the worklist as line items, then performing a bulk workflow status change will change the workflow statuses of the claims those lines belong to

Add to existing project

  • Available on Underpayments

Hiding the summary view

To maximize space on your worklist view, click the Actions dropdown and then Hide table summary. This will collapse the header above the table that lists key summary metrics. To restore the header, click Actions and then Show table summary.

Grouping similar denials

Grouping your worklist and sorting those groups by the highest dollar amount or highest number of denials amount helps your team see which types of denials are causing the most pain Working denials by group helps your team tackle your biggest impact denials first and saves them from context switching since they can work similar denials in the same effort.

To view your Denials worklist as groups, click the Actions dropdown and then turn on the toggle for Group similar denials. From there, you can check which option (by dollar amount or number) you'd like your groups to appear in. To turn off grouping, click Actions and then turn the Group similar denials toggle off.
