How to work through an individual underpayment
Updated over a week ago

Now that you know what you're looking for and how to filter for your preferred view, you can begin addressing individual underpayments (or entire groups as the case may be).

Because the underpayment resolution process is so different for every practice, and often for every payer, this article will simply walk you through a few key functions in Rivet that are designed to help you keep track of where underpayments are in your detection/resolution process. Staying up to date on underpayment status -whether still under internal practice review, sent to the payer, falsely detected, and so forth- can be done in one of two ways:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I. Individual underpayment

There are a few different ways to perform some of the functions on an individual underpayment basis, one of which will be covered below. Click anywhere in the specific claim line (highlighted below in purple) to pull up the details of the underpayment in a new window.

In this window, the following changes (diagrammed and described below) can be made to the underpayment.

A. Status

After clicking on this dropdown you can change the status to match where it is in your underpayments workflow. Simply drag your mouse over the setting that most closely matches where in your workflow process the claim is, and select the desired status.**

**Once a status has been set, you cannot undo the action. The only way to change a specific status is to set it to another one manually. No changes will occur automatically.

B. Assignee

To change the person assigned to a specific underpayment, click on the dropdown arrow at the top right of the screen. Here, you can select an individual (or unassign an individual) as desired. As above, just hover over the preferred option/user and then click to select.

C. Notes

In the bottom lefthand corner, you can add any notes for the specific claim. After adding your desired note in the text box, hit 'Submit' in the bottom right corner of the modal. Notes can be edited and deleted.

Previous notes will be visible on the underpayment as well, directly under the 'Add' note box. (See arrow)

D. Bulk Actions

When working an underpaid line every action taken will only apply to the "This line item" line unless you check the check box next to all lines you want to take action on and then click on the action (update Status, Assign to a representative, Add a Note) from the toolbox that pops up.

Export CSV

Should you be unable to or prefer to send underpayments to payers via other methods- or merely would like a copy for your records- underpayment batches can be downloaded as a CSV. To learn more about exporting data to CSV, please see this article.
