Schedule recurring email reports

Schedule any dashboard to be emailed on a daily, weekly, or monthly cadence

Set up automatic delivery of a dashboard report to recipients on a schedule that works for your team. Also invite existing users to these reports, as well as recipients who are not yet Rivet users. New users will be guided through a simple access request flow, which your account administrator will be able to approve.

Schedule a recurring email

To schedule a recurring email:

  • Navigate to Reports, open the dashboard for which you'd like to schedule the recurring email, and click the email icon in the dashboard title's toolbar.

  • Set your email frequency (daily, weekly, or monthly)

  • Configure the schedule details

    • Daily - choose a time and time zone

    • Weekly - choose a day of the week

    • Monthly - choose first or last, and a day of the week (e.g. "First Monday")

Edit and delete emailed reports

You can update the schedule, recipients, or frequency of an existing recurring email, delete the email entirely from the recurring email settings section or the dashboard itself.

From recurring email settings

Click on the Settings gear icon in the lower left of the Reports page, select the Recurring emails tab, and click on the row with the email.

If editing the emailed report, make your changes and click Save recurring email. If deleting the emailed report, click Delete.

From the dashboard

Open the dashboard with the recurring email, click on the email icon, and then hover over the emailed report and click into it.

If editing the emailed report, make your changes and click Save recurring email. If deleting the emailed report, click Delete.

Subscribe to or unsubscribe from emailed reports

You can subscribe to or unsubscribe from recurring emails through the recurring email settings section or the dashboard itself. Subscribing to an emailed report will add you to the recipient list of that report. Unsubscribing will remove you from the recipient list.

From recurring email settings

Click on the Settings gear icon in the lower left of the Reports page, select the Recurring emails tab, and click the Subscribe or Unsubscribe button at the end of the row.

From the dashboard

Open the dashboard with the recurring email, click on the email icon, and then click the Subscribe or Unsubscribe button.

View and manage all recurring emails

The recurring email settings page gives you a single view of every scheduled report in your account.

To access it, click on the Settings gear in the bottom left corner of the Reports page, and select Recurring emails. You can also open a dashboard with a recurring email, click on the email icon and select View recurring emails from the dashboard menu.

From this page you can see every recurring email you've created, edit schedules and recipients, delete emails, and subscribe or unsubscribe from emailed reports.

Invite new users + admin approval flow

You can invite new users to your account by adding them as a recipient to your emailed report. This will trigger an access request flow, which your account administrator will be able to approve.

Note: This functionality is only available to non-SSO accounts. SSO account users don't log in through Rivet directly. Instead, they log in through their company's identity provider (e.g. Okta or Microsoft). In the SSO case, the account's identity provider controls who has access to Rivet, not Rivet itself.

Invite a new user through the recurring report

Add the new user's email into the "Email to" field. When the recurring report is saved, the new user will receive an invitation email to request access to your account.

Invited user requests access

The new user will receive an invitation email from which they'll click "Request access." This will take them to a web page where they'll enter their name and email, and then submit the request.

Account admin approves the request

The account admin will receive an access request notification via email. From the email or the Users page, the admin can approve the request. They can also delete the user if access shouldn't be granted. Once approved, the new user will have ongoing access to the dashboard.
