Table column configuration

Customize the contents of tables in Rivet to your preferred view

Updated today

There's a lot of flexibility when it comes to customizing table views in Rivet. In the below article, we'll walk through how to configure the visibility and order of columns on a table, as well as how to optimize how data displays with column resizing and sorting.

Reorder columns

Rivet provides a default order of columns for each worklist, but you can change that order to suit your needs. You can even have different column orders per saved view.

  • Reorder a column directly from the table by clicking and dragging the column header to the place you'd like it

  • Reorder columns by opening the Columns menu and dragging the column names up or down

  • Quickly move a column to the first or last column position in your table by opening the Columns menu, hovering over the field, clicking the three dot menu, and selecting Move to start or Move to end

Want to reset to Rivet's default? Click Hide all in the Columns menu, then Reset to default.

Show or hide columns

Showing and hiding columns allows you to hide information that isn't relevant to the view you're creating. If you want specific columns to be shown or hidden in your table:

  • Open the Columns menu in the upper right corner of the table and select the πŸ‘οΈ next to the column name to show or hide it

  • Hide a column directly from the table by clicking the column header and then Hide column

Sort column values

To sort the values in a column, click the column header and then click Sort ascending or Sort descending depending on the order you'd like the values sorted by.

Click the column header and then Remove sort to remove any sorting and return the worklist to its default state.

Freeze or unfreeze columns

With the amount of data you have access to, it can be difficult to remember key claim, contract, or patient details as you scroll to the right on any given worklist. To solve for this, you can freeze one column, which will allow it to stay visible on the left side no matter where you scroll in the table.

  • To freeze a column, click the column header and then Freeze up to column

  • To unfreeze a column, click the column header and then Un-freeze columns

If you have a column frozen, you'll be able to see which one is frozen through both a thin gray line on the table itself, as well as a Frozen through here marker in the Columns list.

Resize columns

Resizing columns allows you to see all of the contents of a column, especially in cases where there's a long name or string that otherwise might not be fully visible.

  • Click and drag the edge of the column header to adjust the width

Which changes can be formally saved to a view?

Everything discussed above in this article can be saved to a view. To save any of the above changes to a view, you'll need to click the Save button. This button will only be enabled when there is a change to save. Changes include:

  • Reordering columns

  • Showing/hiding columns

  • Sorting columns

  • Freezing/unfreezing columns

  • Resizing columns

Saving any of these changes will propagate those changes to the view for anyone who has access to it. If you're on a private view, only you will see that view and any changes that were saved to it. If you're on a shared or public view, saving changes to that view will push those changes to anyone who has access to it and clicks into it.

If you don't want to formally save a column configuration change to a view, you don't have to. You can always forgo clicking the Save button. Your browser will remember your changes up until you clear your cache or you can reset the view to its prior configuration.
