Classifying a Denial in Rivet

Learn how Rivet classifies a Denial.

Updated over a week ago

Rivet classifies a line item as a denial when it meets any of the following criteria:

  • A line item with a charged amount greater than $0.01 and an allowed amount of $0.00.

  • A line item with a charged amount greater than $0.01, $0.00 in payer payments, and $0.00 in patient responsibility.

Rivet auto moves a denied line item to Recovery:

  • Rivet will automatically move a denied line item to a Recovered status when the line item has a subsequent remit transaction with a positive allowed amount, positive payer paid amount, or positive patient responsibility amount.
